The Sumner County Chapter meets the fourth Thursday of the month at VFW Post 9851, 73 New Shackle Island Road, Hendersonville, TN 37075. No meetings are held in February, July, August and November. The December meeting is held early in the month to avoid Christmas. The executive board meets the second Sunday of each month in which a meeting is held. 

The Chapter provides three $500 scholarships to graduating seniors in the Army, Navy and Marine JROTC programs in three Sumner County high schools. The Chapter also awards MOAA medals to juniors in the three Sumner County programs and to the Air Force JROTC program in Robertson County. 

The Sumner County Chapter was chartered as a TROA chapter on 27 July 1999. The chapter was chartered as MOAA on 1 January 2003.
