The Sumner County Chapter was chartered as a TROA chapter on 27 July 1999. The chapter was chartered as MOAA on 1 January 2003.

The Sumner County Chapter meets the fourth Saturday of the month for a noon luncheon at Elevate 50 (formerly the Hendersonville Senior Center. No meetings are held in February, July and November. The December meeting is held early in the month to avoid Christmas. The executive board meets the second Sunday of each month in which a meeting is held.
