The chapter was chartered on 17 November 2007.  There were seven founding members with five of them Tennessee National Guardsmen: COL (R) John Lloyd, COL (R) William Wynns, COL (R) Frank Pointer, Ltc (R) Jim Henderson. & CW5 Gary Nokes; COL (R) Tom Sarver and MAJ (R) Dan Sullenger were the two additional founders, both of which are Marines   Other early individuals who joined the chapter in October 2007 are:  William G. McAlister, Bernie S. Bass, J. Richard Colby, Danny C. Farmer, James R. Roberts, James T. Kardatzke, James C. Tanksley, Russell B. Driver, Henry S. Richards, Dorothy E. Jordan, Curtis H. Landers, Don R. Deering, Kent Russ, Andrew Waynick, Joseph C. Thomas, & Bruce R. Jones. They chose to meet the first Thursday of each month & the meeting be a luncheon one. The reasoning behind this date was that one of the founding members’ wives had a church meeting at the same time so it was a convenient time for him! The luncheon meeting was decided because the founding members were retired & this time did not take away from family needs.

The Chapter has met at McKendree Village in Hermitage since the beginning. The location at the complex has changed but the meetings have been there except for a brief period during COVID when the facility limited outsiders coming in. At that point, the meetings were held down the road in Hermitage at a local restaurant, Meatballs. Originally, McKendree even allowed the Chapter to go through the facility’s cafeteria & eat with the residents. That was stopped after the Chapter returned following COVID.
